Sheryl Whitney’s public service career includes various executive leadership, management, budget analysis, research and consultant positions in Seattle, King County, and Washington, D.C.  Prior to the establishment of Whitney Jennings, Sheryl served for seven years as Deputy County Executive in the administration of County Executive Ron Sims. In this role she provided daily supervision for the Departments of Adult and Juvenile Detention, Community and Human Services, Development and Environmental Services, Executive Services, Information Technology, Natural Resources and Parks, Public Health and Transportation. In addition to her management responsibilities, Sheryl lead King County initiatives on equity and social justice, performance management and rural area services.  Sheryl currently performs government relations services, anti-poverty research management, affordable housing consultation, and government support services.  She is an advocate for dependent youth in the Washington State foster care system as well as services for Seattle’s homeless. Sheryl has a Master’s degree in International Economic Development from American University in Washington, D.C., a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the Jackson School of the University of Washington, and a certificate in Executive Leadership from Seattle University.

 

Theresa Jennings has served in various planning, financial, operational, management and leadership positions in Atlanta Georgia, Norfolk Virginia, Seattle Washington and King County Washington.  Prior to Whitney Jennings, Theresa served as the Director of the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, the largest natural resource agency in the state of Washington.  She has also served as the King County Solid Waste Division Director, Deputy Director for the city of Norfolk Virginia’s Department of Utilities, and Property Services Manager for the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District. She is adept, experienced and comfortable working in demanding, highly complex, unionized, operational environments. She has effectively managed, motivated and led organizations through business transformations and financial challenges utilizing innovative strategies to resolve problems. In her roles as division and department directors Theresa routinely mentored and coached staff including managers and division directors. She has over 20 years of experience in the public sector, 16 of which were in supervisory, management or executive leadership positions. Theresa has a Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration/Legal Systems.
